SPECIAL GUESTS AT SAN DIEGO BUM SEMINAR
()

We’re pleased to announce that Bob Esmino (that’s him on the left, circa 1970 at the Cellar bar in Orange County) and Ray Barrientos, the subjects of Chapter Seven of the new Beachbum Berry book, Sippin’ Safari, will make a live guest appearance at our 2007 Tiki Oasis seminar in San Diego. Ray was a bartender at Steve Crane’s legendary Luau restaurant in Beverly Hills, while Bob was Bar Manager of Crane’s Kon-Tiki restaurant in Chicago (and was instrumental in setting up the bar at the Islands restaurant in San Diego in the mid-1960s). These two living legends are full of amazing stories about the heyday of tropical drinks; they’ll field your questions after regaling us with tales of Tiki bars past.
The seminar starts at 2PM on Saturday, August 18. Drinks, of course, are included: We’ll start with a welcome punch incorporating two of the bar syrups Bob spent 20 years of his life perfecting, then move on to sample-sized portions of Don The Beachcomber’s 1934 Zombie (adapted by the Bum so you can make them at home) and the 1958 Luau Grog served by Ray during his stint at the Luau.
